Fixing Broken Navigation That's Hurting Your AdSense Application

Navigation problems are one of the quietest rejection causes — easy to miss when you already know your own site, and easy for a reviewer to spot immediately.

When you've built a site yourself, you know where everything is — which makes it hard to notice navigation that would genuinely confuse a first-time visitor, including an AdSense reviewer seeing your site for the first time.

Common navigation problems we find

  • Menu items that link to empty or under-construction pages.
  • Dropdown menus that don't work correctly on mobile.
  • A homepage that doesn't clearly link to the site's main content areas.
  • Category pages with no posts, or only one or two.
  • Footer links that go nowhere, or duplicate the header navigation with different, inconsistent labels.

How to audit your own navigation

  1. Click every single link in your header and footer, on both desktop and mobile, and confirm each one resolves correctly.
  2. Ask someone unfamiliar with the site to find a specific piece of content — watch where they get stuck.
  3. Check that every category or tag visible in navigation has real, published content behind it.
  4. Confirm the homepage clearly communicates what the site is about within the first screen.

Why we check this first

Navigation issues are fast to fix once found, but easy to overlook when you're too close to your own site. It's one of the first things 10MillionReach checks in any approval audit, because it's a quick win that removes an entire category of rejection risk.
